The Big Fish Story: Before i went fishing i respooled one of my baitcasters with 8 pound braided line just to make it a little more fun when playing the fish, tied on a berkley bat wing frog. It was a hot november morning and tried to get down to drakes Creek before the top water bite died for the day. I fishing a cove with alot of isolated patches of grass. I had caught 4 or 5 small largemouth when i threw next to a patch of grass, as im working it through the grass there was a huge explosion but I guess it was a short strike and i kept working back towards me with nothing. I casted again brought through the grass and it hit again i counted to 3 and set the hook. It swam out of the grass and was stripping drag like no other, I thought i had a huge largemouth at first until I saw the fish jump, and i realized it was a muskie. All i could think was, i have no leader and light line. But my line never gave. It made 12 big jumps and made alot of line stripping runs, after 20 minutes of fighting it. Took the fish to my house which is just a rock skip away from the creek got some pics of it and released it. It ended up being a trophy fish by 2 inches.
