The Big Fish Story: Having just recovered form a back injury I was realy looking foward to some fishing , a very good friend of mine called and told me that the wipers were starting to boil at one of the local lakes near his home in Ogden Utah and asked if I wanted to come up and chase them , can you say duh , 6 hours later we were loading gear in his boat , 20 minutes after that we were trolling spinner rigs and shiners on bottom bouncers and plugs on side planers in 18 feet of water , 107 deg air temp and 76 deg water temp , less than five minutes the right hand planer pops , " FISH ON " yells my buddy and promply brings a 3 lb channel cat , 6 hours 12 catfish and 1 17 inch wiper later we pulled the boat back into his drive , my buddy was bummed that we had not seen any boils so I told him to call his local dfg to see if they had any info , they had news alright ,it seems tha the shad had just completed there spawn , well time for plan B , up the next morning before dawn we were off to another local lake armed with 30 lb braid , wire leaders , 9 inch rubber swimbaits , and float tubes , on my first cast a huge tiger musky launched out of the water behind my bait , as I reeled in hoping to make another quick cast the monster once again launched it's 50 inch body at my bait , only this time it was a 6 foot rods length away , after about ten minutes I was able to stop shaking long enough to continue fishing landing 11 smaller tiger muskys the largest was this 36 inch long 10 pound 4 oz fish , but I will never forget that first monster launching from the water at my feet .
