On the last day of each month at 10:00 a.m. EST the five (5) top ranked anglers, (comprised of the angler with the highest vote total in each of the five fish specie categories: Bass, Trout, Walleye, Inshore Saltwater, and Other) are named that month’s BerkleyBigFish Category Winners. Each of the five (5) monthly Category Winners receive prize packages from the BerkleyBigFish sponsors, are featured on the Winners page and are judged to determine who will become that month’s BerkleyBigFish Finalist.

 

Hank Parker and his crew of BigFish connoisseurs select one (1) of the five (5) Category Winners each month to be crowned as a BerkleyBigFish Finalist. When making their selection, Hank and his crew take into account the point totals, the difficulty of the catches (given the geographic location) and the amount of keyboard grease put into the BigFish stories.

 

New for 2009, another way to claim a spot as a BerkleyBigFish Finalist is by being named an Elite Angler. One (1) monthly Elite Angler is chosen by Hank Parker and the BigFish team based the angler's skill, dedication and love of the sport of fishing. An Elite Angler is someone who Hank could see himself fishing with - only the best are given this distinguished title.

 

Each of the two (2) monthly BerkleyBigFish Finalists are given a 1-in-22 shot at the BerkleyBigFish Grand Prize, a fishing getaway with the legendary Hank Parker. The BerkleyBigFish Grand Prize Winner will be chosen in January 2010 from the 22 Finalists. Hank alone will make the final decision on who has earned the right to the coveted title.

 

Apart from the BerkleyBigFish Challenge, Hank will be on the lookout for monster catches and outstanding stories for the monthly Nice Catch and Whopper of a Tale awards. Every registered angler is eligible for these awards and prizes, as long as the featured BigFish is impressive and the story is rich!

GRAND PRIZE RULES

To become a BerkleyBigFish Challenge Finalist participants must first do one of the following: win one (1) of 11 monthly Abu Garcia® Challenges or be selected as one (1) of 11 monthly Elite Anglers. No one person or photograph is eligible to win in excess of one (1) of the 11 Abu Garcia® Challenges or one (1) of the 11 Elite Anglers.   2. PRIZE/ODDS: GRAND PRIZE: The Grand Prize Winner will be selected by Hank Parker and/or Sponsor designated judges out of the 11 BerkleyBigFish Challenge Finalists and 11 Elite Anglers. One (1) Grand Prize winner and guest (who must also be 18 years of age or older) will receive a trip to fish with Hank Parker (exact location to be determined by Sponsor). Package includes: round-trip coach airfare from the closest major airport to winner’s primary residence to a major airport closest to fishing destination, round-trip airport/hotel transfers, 4-days/3-nights room accommodations (standard room, double occupancy, to be selected by Sponsor), 3 meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner), fishing equipment rental for four (4) days, UP TO $100 cash award to be used to purchase fishing license and a one (1) day fishing excursion with Hank Parker. If for any reason Hank Parker is not available for the day of fishing excursion that portion of the prize will be forfeited without compensation to winner. In the event winner resides within 250 miles of selected fishing destination, ground transportation will be substituted for airfare. (ARV: $4,000; may vary depending upon point of departure, destination and airfare fluctuations) Travel must be completed by 12/31/10. Winner and guest must travel on same itinerary. All other expenses, including ADDITIONAL meals and gratuities, not expressly stated herein, are the sole responsibility of the Grand Prize winner and his/her guest. If Grand Prize winner cannot complete travel by date specified, then Grand Prize winner will be disqualified and an alternate Grand Prize winner will be selected. No substitutions permitted except at the sole discretion of Sponsor, in which case a prize of greater or equal value will be awarded.   3. JUDGING: Judging will be based on submitted photography and corresponding information. Winner will be contacted by telephone on or about 01/26/10 at the daytime number listed. If, after two (2) attempts, contact has not been made, prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. Fulfillment agent must speak with potential winner; messages will not be left. Travel prize information will be delivered within approximately 8-10 weeks of verification of eligibility.
  4. ELIGIBILITY: Competition open only to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States, who are 13 years of age or older. Employees of Pure Fishing, Inc., Berkley, and their agencies, parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, vendors, wholesalers, retailers, or members of their immediate families or households are not eligible to participate.
